Cowpea Production Technology

Cowpea is the most versatile kharif as well as summer pulse, because of its smothering nature, drought tolerant character, soil restoring properties and multipurpose uses. Many factors influence the crop production. Among the agronomic factors known to augment crop yield, fertilizers plays an important role topping the list. Among them, potash and zinc play important role to maximize the yield potential in monetary terms. Every possible nutrient management practices are implemented by using the chemical fertilizers to reach at peak production level but they have some negative impact on soil, product quality and environment. Recently, potash and zinc have been used as a sustainable practice which is able to boost up the production, productivity and quality of the product as well as without causing any negative hazardous effect on crop and environment. The efficient application of chemical fertilizers has played very significant role in providing nutrients for growth and development of plants.
