Courage: A Crucial Virtue in the Attainment of Aristotelian Happiness

This is an incisive new look at the old but yet full of insight work of Aristotle: the Nichomachean Ethics. It is also the result of not only a thorough reading of the literature in the field of virtue ethics, but also an account of the experiences of the author himself. He first embraces the idea of Aristotle that all human activities aim at happiness and shows that, compared to other moral virtues, the virtue of courage plays a very crucial role. Being from the turbulent Great Lakes Region of Africa and having spent the last 16 years in East Asia, Dr Ladislas takes roots in his rich experiences of the human and the contingent existential conditions to bring a deep analysis of the workings of this virtue in the process, sometimes twisted, of endeavoring towards eudaemonia or happiness.
