CORROSION CHARACTERIZATION STUDIES OF ZA-27/QUARTZ MMCs

This books deals with the simple techniques like open circuit potential and potentiostat test in which the metal matrix composites of ZA-27 reinforced with quartz particulates manufactured by liquid melt metallurgy technique are tested. Detailed like raw material, reinforcement, equipment used, procedure and results are given. The studies reveal that the metal matrix composites of ZA-27 reinforced with quartz particulates exhibit decreased corrosion rate and increased corrosion resistance when compared to matrix alloy. Hence it is concluded that metal matrix composites are more suitable than matrix alloy for applications in aeronautical, automobile and marine industries.
