Correlation and Path Coefficient Analysis in Safflower

The present investigation entitled was undertaken during rabi 2013, at Experimental Farm of Oilseeds Research Station, Latur with 40 genotypes of safflower including two checks viz., Sharda and PBNS-12 with objectives to study the genetic variability parameters, correlation and path analysis for yield and yield contributing characters. The observations were recorded on selected five plants for eleven yield contributing characters. The promising genotypes were viz., PBNS-132 for days to maturity, plant stand and number of effective capitulum per plant, PBNS-130 for plant stand, number of effective capitulum and harvest index, PBNS-121 for days to 50 per cent flowering, days to maturity, number of effective capitulum per plant and seed yield per plant, NARI-97 for volume weight, harvest index and oil content and PBNS-120 for days to maturity, hull content and seed yield per plant.
