Coronaviruses: A glance at the emerging pathogens

This book discusses a brief history, taxonomy, origin and overall biology of Coronaviruses. The book will also shed light on the SARS COV-2 i.e. History, Epidemiology, Transmission, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment (Drugs and Vaccines), Prophylaxis and Implementing Home Care for COVID-19 Patient, and Future Outlook and Guidelines. The Coronaviruses having a single large and enveloped positive-stranded ¿+RNA¿ belong to order Nidovirales, family Coronaviridae and include about 30 species. Due to a number of important socioeconomic diseases that results in cold or flu to more chronic diseases such as MERS, SARS and SARS 2 or COVID-19, coronaviruses have both medical and veterinary significance due to which interest in research relating to this viral family has increased over the past few years HCoV infection is a zoonosis. HCoVs mostly originated from bats, domestic animals or mice. Corona viruses causing human respiratory diseases were first identified in the 1960s, but were not considered to be highly pathogenic to humans until Chinäs SARS outbreak in 2003.
