Contribution to the study of sedentary wheat quail in the Doukkala plain in Morocco

The wheat quail is a bird of great hunting value, as its hunting proves to be very exciting for hunters. Moreover, it is considered to be in decline in the 20th century since the end of the 1960s, which is why it was legally listed in 1979, notably in the Bonn Convention, where it was mentioned in its Annex 2 as a species in a state of conservation considered unfavourable, while the Bern Convention goes further by classifying it in its Annex 3 as a protected species.At the scale of Morocco, the wheat quail has never been the subject of a research program, the data on this species are unavailable. Thus, the present scientific work carried out between 2006 and 2008, has the ambition to elucidate certain biological aspects of the wheat quail in the Doukkala plain in Morocco, particularly on reproduction which constitutes one of the basic elements for decision-making on the sustainable management of this species which is in decline.
