Content Analysis of Indian Academic Library Websites

Library website has become an essential aspect of libraries around the world. The growth and the availability of information in digital format made the library website a starting point for accessing information. The growth and development of the library website is phenomenal across the world. But much of the literature on library websites have emerged from developed countries. There is a little information on how web technologies have been implemented in third world countries. In this regard, this study aimed at examining the current state of the Indian university library websites. The study used content analysis research methodology for examining the Indian university library websites. One thirty five Indian university library websites were examined in the study. The study found that the Central and the Institutes of National Importance library websites have developed and designed better websites compared to the State and the Deemed university libraries.
