Conservation & Preservation of Manuscripts in Libraries & Museums

This book is the result of my efforts in restoring, preserving and conserving the rarest of rare manuscript collection in J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages after the devastating floods of September 2014 which engulfed many parts of the Kashmir Valley. During the floods of September 2014, a considerable number of manuscripts at J&K Cultural Academy got damaged due to the inundated flood waters. For the restoration and preservation of these flood affected manuscripts, I was deputed to NRLC (National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property), Lucknow for a period of two months where I got the chance to work with the technical staff of NRLC with the exceptional set of skills in the field of Preservation and Conservation. During this period, I found the field of Preservation and Conservation of manuscripts and other archival materials very interesting and suddenly my interest in the subject developed very deeply. I started to read about Preservation and Conservation of archival property through various online sources, mostly online tutorials by the experts in the field.
