Conjunctive use of Irrigation Water in Karnataka

Management Strategies for conjunctive use of water and Micro Irrigated Crops presents new research and technologies for making better use of water resources for agricultural purposes. The chapters focus on better management to improve allocation and irrigation water efficiency and look at performance factors as well.The planned conjunctive use of groundwater and surface water has the potential to offer benefits in terms of economic and social outcomes through significantly increased water use efficiency.This study also help to analyse the economics of irrigation among the farms across the surface water (SW), groundwater (GW) and conjunctive use (CU) situations was undertaken in Cauvery command area.It supports greater food and fibre yield per unit of water use.In command areas, over utilization of surface water, especially in the upper and middle reaches in most of the canal commands, have given rise to deleterious effects.
