The oral cavity is a intricate immunological site. Both mucosal immunity and systemic immunity come together and play substantial roles in protection against infections and damage, and also in the pathogenesis of numerous oral mucosal diseases. The immune system of oral cavity comprises of mucosal immunity, saliva and gingival crevicular fluid and oral keratinocyte-derived biologic mediators. This book give insight into the current state of knowledge of the immune system as it is relevant to the oral cavity in health and disease.
