Concept of Gulma in Ayurveda

Gulma is a condition in which a mass of cells is formed within the Thoraco-abdominal cavity. Owing to its complex, organized and its deep - rooted adherent nature, it is termed as Gulma. It is so called because it has its root in confounded Vayu, originates from deep source like a shrub and has massive spread like an assemblage. All tumors and tumor-like growths in the body are caused due to vitiation of Vata and Kapha Doshas in the human body. Despite the widespread research work and development of newer drugs in modern oncology, cancer has remained a challenging disease. Ayurveda being an age old health science with scientific therapeutic principles and treasure of thousands of potent safe herbal and mineral products is expected to give an assuring answer in this ailment. So far there is big controversy and confusion among Ayurveda scholar about understanding of Gulma disease. In this book author has made sincere effort to elaborate disease process of Gulma and evaluate in present scenario. Also how diagnostic technology can help us to clear myths as well as helps in effective management of disease like Gulma.
