Computer Assisted Instruction: An Innovative Learning Strategy

Computer Assisted Instruction is an approach developed to match the various learning styles of the learner. It helps the teacher to improve his capability to reach more children and create a richer and more diverse environment for their learning. Computer Assisted Instruction can make learning more active. The learner¿s intelligence, creativity, motivation and personality characteristics are more important determinants, than the teacher and the curriculum in the learning situation. Teaching is a process by which the teacher and the students create a shared environment. The learning environment is therefore created out of the interaction between the teacher and the students. Moreover, a subject like science needs more understanding about the concept and the principles. So it is very much needed to find out a new way of teaching science, so that, the learning process could be made easier. Computer Assisted Instruction as an innovative learning strategy can improve the quality of instruction in schools. In addition to self pace, the computer assisted instruction can facilitate self study, self evaluation, self corrections and remedial instruction.
