Common Property Resources and Rural Livelihood

Common Property Resources (CPRs) are the open access natural resources of villages, communities or habitations. Millions of people derive their livelihood from such resources but their constant depletion has endangered such livelihood base and livestock production. This book attempts to address various issues and concerns of CPRs i.e depletion due to land use / land cover change and its consequences, dependency of rural households on CPRs for livelihood along various socio-physical variables, dependency of livestock production on CPRs, analysis of existing governance and management of CPRs in Jammu and Kashmir, assessment of the scope of participatory management schemes and prioritization of future actions under participatory management. The book ends with the conclusion and suggestions.
