COLLECTED POEMS VOLUME 2

Poems in this book span at least three generations of important historical periods in Africa, North and South America as well as the Caribbean. These were periods marked by social upheavals, protests, liberation wars, and the cold war. Thousands of writers have added their voices as part of the process of finding solutions that would contribute to a new world order marked by personal liberty, compassion, as well as economic, social, and political empowerment. These writers'' contributions have also addressed the role of art as many formerly colonized societies have joined the ranks of the ¿free,¿ in which, however, old problems persist, such as poverty, disease, and new dictatorial regimes. The poems in this book therefore fall within the tradition of committed art which does not shy away from addressing both personal and social issues.
