Class III Malocclusion

Angle¿s Class III malocclusion is of true Class III malocclusion and pseudo-Class III malocclusion. Skeletal Class III malocclusion may be characterized by a prognathic mandible, retrognathic maxilla or a combination of the two. This sagittal dysmorphia is further magnified as it encompasses vertical and transverse problems which get aggravated most often with the fourth dimension of time. The management of Class III malocclusions pose numerous challenges beginning with judicious in-depth history taking and diagnosis, timely institution of appropriate preventive, interceptive and corrective orthodontic procedures. This is a primary group of malocclusions wherein in spite of the best efforts made by both the attending orthodontist and compliant patient, orthognathic surgery is a reality marked on the treatment sheet.
