Chemical Physics of the Ozone Layer

The book highlights the main issues related to the ozone layer of the Earth, including the biological and environmental consequences of depletion of the ozone layer, the impact of natural and anthropogenic factors on the ozone layer, the Antarctic spring ozone hole phenomenon, the causes of ozone depletion at the end of the 20th century, and other issues of the ozone problem. Particular attention is paid to the mechanism of ozone depletion involving known catalytic cycles, for which the algorithm for calculating the rate of ozone depletion and chain length in these cycles has been first obtained. For the first time, erroneous views on the causes of ozone depletion and the way to restore it have been analyzed.
