Changing Conceptions of Sovereignty in International Law

One of the more important issues that were covered in the charter of the United Nations was the protection of sovereignty, to be more specific, internal jurisdiction. Sovereignty is complex to the degree that it cannot be considered a issue. Also it is too complex to be considered an international phenomenon.The United Nations, principally through the Security Council, is becoming more and more involved in such issues as Human Rights and humanitarian intervention; which were in the past considered issues that were solely matters of internal concern. They are also involving other organizations such as intergovernmental organizations and NGOs concerned with issues of Human Rights and Self-Determination.
