Challenges of Community Participation on Socio-Economic Development

Community participation has been part of development policy, programs and projects in both developing and developed countries. Participation enhanced quality, effectiveness and sustainability of development actions. By engaging people at the center of such actions, development efforts have a much greater potential to empower them and lead to ownership of the results. Therefore, local government authority should strengthen its official capacity, enhance community awareness creation on community participation and its importance, develop convincing community mobilizing approach, develop culture of all inclusive participatory problem identification and decision making, and regularly aware community on social and cultural obstacles in order to enhance community participation on development program at grass root level.
