In the context a rapidly globalized, industrial and urbanized world order and the consequent debilitation in the form of ecological damage, overflow of industrial effluents into water sources and the carcinogenic effects of pollution, the present work intends to examine the contours and capacity of sustainable environmental ethics in creating the structure of multilateral agency for the world in general and south Asia in particular to deal with the issues of ecology and environment which is both sensitive and sacrosanct to all inhabitants. It is also common and endemic to the world view and life world of a huge cache of human population diverse in culture, consumption and commitment to life yet united in their values and love for the nature and ¿mother earth¿. In this book an attempt has been made to interrogate state and invoke the authority of civil society and rule of law in developing a cooperative environmental strategy that will ensure justice, equity and fairness to all without jeopardizing the benefits of development and thus create a humane and environmentally sustainable society that also cherishes democratic values.
