Brong Ahafo Research and Extension Centre conference 2010

The findings of the conference proved that the CIDA- Malaspina-GCFPEE and now BAREC/ICURA projects have provided extensive research and extension support to the various partner countries and institutions. It also proved that a high level of awareness have been created on environmental education and the results have been appropriate environmental best practices in key communities in Sunyani, Ghana and other key communities in Canada and Tanzania. BAREC has helped in strengthening institutional collaboration locally and abroad. Moreover, the MALASPINA/GCPFEE/BAREC project has undertaken many research and extension services in many educational institutions and communities. Through environmental education programmes undertaken by BAREC, many people have improved their perception and attitudes towards unsafe sex, waste management and environmental cleanliness. BAREC has assisted many students and faculty to improve their skills in research and extension services. It is recommended that the new perspective of BAREC should centre on researches that would seek to provide livelihood support systems through effective environmental education.
