Breakdown of Land

Srinagar, the summer capital of state of Jammu and Kashmir, has undergone radical changes in its physical form through land transformations over the last decades. The analysis carried out has been portrayed graphically in simple, lucid and pragmatic style. The important characteristics of this study is that it gives the vibrant picture of the expansion of the city along with its causes thereby diagnosing the urban problem. This study could help in better implementation of the proposals made by the government authorities for channelizing the growth and development of the city as per the developmental plans. This book makes the apt use of Remote Sensing and GIS technology justifying the final results with the help of primary socio-economic data. The language is by far down to earth making it suitable particularly for the geographers and others who have no prior knowledge of the remote sensing and GIS techniques and who are beginning the study of the subject for the first time.
