Bouddhajan Panchayat Samiti: Transformation of Caste Panchayat in City

The objectives of this study are, firstly to look into the historical context of ¿Bouddhajan Panchayat Samiti¿ (hereinafter referred to as ¿BPS¿), which gives the thought of purpose behind establishing it. Secondly to study the organizational matters of BPS and examine the effectiveness of the functioning of each committee and the benefits get from it. It looks at the impact of BPS on the people as well as on Samiti. The study purposely focuses on the youth and women those who belong to BPS directly or indirectly, their role in the process of BPS and their development out of it. Lastly, the study analyzes the contribution of BPS towards the Buddhist people of Konkan region. It is an exploratory in nature which aims at exploring the changes that the members of BPS have been going through in the larger context of the changes that the BPS has been experiencing. The research specifically aims a(220)t analyzing the changes in their geo-political-religious conditions and its impact on the traditional way of life. The study is based on the primary data collected from various Branches of BPS of Greater Mumbai city. The unit of analysis is the Buddhist member of BPS, youth and women.
