BLOOD CARDIOPLEGIA DURING CARDIAC SURGERY

Myocardium protection is very important during cardiac surgery. Such techniques have been standardized. This book is part of the our long experience with cristalloid and blood cardioplegia for myocardial protection. We have more than a decade hat successfully have employed mixed hematic cardioplegia.The aim of our studies were to determine the advantages of mixed hematic cardioplegia, compared with the cristalloid cardioplegia minly in mitral valve surgery, in mitral valve replacement and aortic-coronary bypass. Also we evaluated the levels of S100B and NSE during such operations. Blood cardioplegia, modifying the reperfusion damages, improves the postoperative contractile function; decreasing the morbidity and mortality, affects the postoperative recuperation and reduces the hospital stay.
