Bite Marks

A bite mark is a patterned injury in skin or a pattern in an object caused by the biting surface of human or animal teeth. It plays a pivotal role in criminal investigations as it provides evidence whether a suspect was present at a particular crime scene or was in violent contact with the victim. Analysis of bite marks involves comparing the teeth of possible suspects to the bite mark patterns on the victim¿s skin. And ultimately leading to the identification of the offender or biter. DNA of the offender can be isolated from saliva present on the bite mark. This provides a new paradigm to the ever evolving heinous world of crime by providing the judicial system with a set of iron clad evidence in form of bite marks.
