Bibliometric & Webometric Study of Open Access Journals in LISc[05-09]

An evaluative Bibliometric method, citation analysis was conducted on articles published in 6 open access journals in LISc. The study used bibliographic assessment and citation analysis as method. In essence, the method comprises the following: the analysis and measurement (counting) of citations according to predetermined and well-defined categories; quantification and ordering/ranking of the categorized units; analysis and comparison of attained data; and interpretation of the data in so far as the research questions are concerned. The detailed procedure of data extraction and analysis is presented in Chapter no four. For selection of LIS journals for the purpose of this study, stratified sampling technique was employed.
