Electronic money is not a new phenomenon. Trade over the Internet has increased the use of new technologies, thereby increasing the demand for new electronic payment methods. Without a doubt, the purpose of such an instrument is to improve the efficiency of the traditional payment method. This study will illustrate, the ability of Ghanaian regulators to contain the risks of this new technology as it will largely be determined by their ability to engage constructively with FinTech industry and broader digital currency community. So, a more proactive engagement on this issue is needed.
