Awareness participation pattern and attitude of the farmers

Water is the source of life, without water life is not possible. The per capita water availability has dropped drastically from 6008 m3 in 1947 to 2200 m3 now and is expected to dwindle to 1450 m3 by 2025. Keeping the important of water, watershed development programme in Haryana was designed to evaluate a relationship between selected independent variables with people¿s participation Pattern, observed that age, family size and value orientation were negatively and significantly related, while, caste, education, source of irrigation, land holding, housing pattern, material possession, mass media exposure, annual income, risk orientation, economic motivation, scientific orientation were positively and significantly related. The book also highlighted that significant effectiveness due to enhance participation, increase no. of trees and production level in watershed area. Majority of the respondents possessed medium level awareness level so, there is need to educate the farmers using extension techniques. The crop production & productivity of the milch animals & also milch animal population, number of trees in study area has increased considerably after implementation of watershed.
