Assessment of Voluntary Counseling and Testing Service Utilization

Voluntary Counselling & Testing (VCT) form the cornerstone HIV prevention strategies. They increase awareness of HIV issues and potentially reduce both primary and secondary HIV transmission. Voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) also entry points for successful implementation of prevention, care and support services among both HIV negative and positive individuals. More research is need into the barriers and motivators for testing among this population, with a view to evaluating the effectiveness of VCT for youths. This particular research assist policy makers in improving the VCT services for adolescents who make up the majority of people affected by the HIV and AIDS pandemic in the world, and especially in Ethiopia.
