ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION IN PREGNANCY

Hypertension during pregnancy continues to be a health problem in the world, and is associated with high maternal, fetal and neonatal morbimortality. It is considered necessary to unify criteria for its management, with the objective of describing the behavior of the main risk factors and complications of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy in patients from the urban area belonging to the teaching polyclinic of Santo Domingo, Cuba. A comparative descriptive research was carried out with two groups: One with pregnant women with hypertensive disorder and the other with pregnant women who did not present the pathology, 176 deliveries occurred, 24.4% presented hypertensive disorders, in this group 20.9% were adolescents and 32.6% were 35 years old or older, obese patients represented 30.2% in the study group and 15.8% in the control group, family and personal history of hypertensive disorder in previous pregnancies and chronic arterial hypertension were in greater proportion, the type of hypertension that predominated was mild preeclampsia. We can conclude that the incidence of hypertensive disorder is high.
