Architecture and the unseen reality

It was the image I saw that gave me the inspiration for this research. That image of the building, all destructed, put to ashes in front of the camera lenses. It was all over the news. An old building in Beirut was down. The stones just collapsed. All is left was a wooden ¿A-bat jour¿ from a window standing all alone on a pile of dust. Then I realized it was not the image I saw that made me think. It was that dark spot that I could not conceive. It was a hidden truth that I could not decipher. This building, supposedly our safe haven, our hiding place, falls to ashes, taking away 27 lives. That building was more than stones, it was a home. The lintel made of concrete that once was a support to the door, is now nothing but fragmented powder. However, it has always been just powder. And in a split of seconds, it all ended. It is at that very moment when I first started questioning the reality that surrounds us. The whole matrix of reality began to melt. You no longer accept the physical certainties.
