Beschreibung

Our oceans have reached their limit, they can no longer offer us more than they have given us. Today, technological advances and population growth are putting additional pressure on available natural resources, especially fisheries resources. The use of fishmeal, even if it is not illegal, jeopardizes the food security of the populations of West Africa who live mainly on this resource. The 500,000 tons of fish harvested annually could feed more than 30 million Africans for whom it is the main source of protein and feed the local value chain (artisanal fishing, processing, local sales...). Faced with this situation, vegetable products are good alternatives. They are available in greater quantities and with more regularity than fishmeal and fish oil. The proportion of fishmeal in fish feed has been reduced by one third and is replaced by a combination of vegetable protein sources that provide the necessary amino acids in sufficient quantities to meet the needs of the fish.
