The present study showed that the Lagenaria siceraria extract possess gastroprotective activity as evidenced by its significant inhibition in the formation of ulcers induced by various physical and chemical agents. A dose response antiulcer study has been done using 100mg/Kg & 200mg/Kg of Lagenaria siceraria extract against various validated gastric ulcer models like Pylorus ligation,Asprin ,Ethanol and Cold restraint stress induced ulcer.The optimal effect was obsereved was at dose of 200mg/Kg of Lagenaria siceraria extract.
