Analysis of the financial activities of refugees in Dadaab, Kenya

Following the disintegration of the Somali state as a result of the civil war in 1991, thousands of refugees moved to Kenya and were settled in camps at Dadaab, namely Ifo, Dagahaley and Hagadera. Quite naturally, the refugees have been receiving relief aid supplies, which have, in a way, been blamed for reducing traditional social security mechanisms. This study analyzed financial activities at the camps whether they aid economic empowerment of refugees at Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya. The study used descriptive research design to obtain information from refugees at Dadaab camps in Garissa County in North Eastern Kenya. Snowball sampling was used to select the sample of respondents to participate in this study.
