Turmeric or Indian saffron contains curcumins, is one of the primary ingredients in turmeric powders that are used as spices in Middle eastern and Asian countries, especially on the Indian subcontinent. Analysis of ten different turmeric powder samples revealed that, the turmeric powder samples 8 and 9 have highest curcumin content ie. 2.96 % and 2.73 % respectively. Whereas, turmeric powder samples 3 and 5 have the least ie. 1.19% and 1.69 %. Curcumin displays both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, a potential to be considered in the development of chemopreventive strategies and applications.
