Analyses of synthetic organic dyes and pigments from Wilhelm Ostwald

This book summarizes the work and experiences carried out by M. Sc. Sefkan ATAK in the TUD and in the HfBK during his scientific work from 02/2016 to 09/2016. This study was dedicated to the analyses of the old coloured samples developed by Mr. Wilhelm OSTWALD at the beginning of the 20th century: Mr. OSTWALD created in the early 20th century a new chromatic system to make the understanding of the pigments and coloured stuffs easier. This system classification was based on the category of pigments used and on their light intensity. The goal of these studies is to understand the composition of the pigments used for this classification, mainly thanks to RAMAN spectroscopy.
