An investigation on the impact of enterprise resource planning

The study sought to investigate the impact of enterprise resource planning system at Jena Mines (Pvt) Ltd as the monthly and year end reports are taking too long to be produced and they are not up to standard. The research looked into how the system fails to meet user needs. The major objectives of the study were to identify the critical success factors that could influence the effectiveness of SAP and to explore ways that can be used to improve the systems development life cycle. The researcher used a descriptive research design making use of a case study at Jena Mines (Pvt) Ltd. The whole population of SAP users was used as the sample that is, thirty eight employees were given questionnaires and six heads of departments were interviewed.Data was collected and analysed using Microsoft excel, presented on tables, charts and graphs. The findings indicated that the users resist change as a result of lack of expertise, reports produced by the system are not in accordance with the accounting standards, and the system sometimes fails and is highly affected by poor network.
