An Analysis of the Arms Trade Treaty

The Arms Trade Treaty which was made under the auspices of the United Nations represents the recent and comprehensive approach in the regulation of international trade in conventional arms in the world. Before now, there has not been any comprehensive regulation on the sale of arms in the international scene until recently when the Arms Trade Treaty came into force after its fiftieth ratification was obtained. This book attempts to make a critical analysis of the provisions of the Arms Trade Treaty with the view of bringing out the various criticisms on its provisions. The book examines previous efforts towards the regulation of transfer of conventional arms in a bid to appreciate the present treaty under analysis and also covers the intricacies surrounding the process of making the treaty.
