Algal Flora Of Ghatampur Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Kanpur district has a number of botanically interesting regions which harbour a flora and fauna quite different from the vast plains of India. The rich varied flora of this region is a special attraction for a large number of tourist and botanist who visit the region with the primary object of making a collection of algae. The study initiated with segregation and listing algae from Kanpur in the past and preserved in different herbaria of the Uttar Pradesh. The study provided a detailed account of the distribution of algae in different localities of the regions. Most of the information on algae of the district are scattered in a number of publications and so far not a complete account of algae from Kanpur district is available. The book focuses on the algal flora found in the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Kanpur district with its varied physiographic, climatic and edaphic conditions reflects a wide assortment of rich algae.
