Alcoholics and Dependents

The present study is aimed to assess the stress, marital adjustment and coping skills adopted by wives of alcoholics and non-alcoholics and it is found that stress, wives of alcoholics have significantly higher levels of stress compared to wives of non-alcoholics. In the area of marital adjustment, wives of non-alcoholics showed significantly more martially adjusted compared to wives of alcoholics. In the area of coping strategies adopted, wives of non-alcoholics are good in coping strategies as compared to wives of alcoholics. There was a significant negative correlation between stress and coping strategies, stress and marital adjustment among wives of alcoholics and non alcoholics. There was a significant positive correlation between marital adjustment and coping strategies adopted among wives of alcoholics and wives of non-alcoholics.
