Beschreibung

African leaders under the African Union and the International Criminal Court have had disputes since 2005. Most of the issues between the two entities revolved around Heads of States immunity from prosecution, deferrals, sovereignty and the role of the United Nationals Security Council in the International Criminal Court. This tussle forms the main theme of this book. The author uses Constructivism theory to demonstrate how the notion of bias is Socially Constructed in the belief system of the African leaders. He uses secondary and primary data collected using complete collection and purposive sampling. Content and document analysis are employed to analyze the data. The author points out specific issues that African states raised against the ICC and proves their apparent weakness. He also suggests ways by which this standoff can be overhauled to ensure that the court carries out its mandate efficiently.
