Advanced diagnostic aids in oral potentially malignant disorders

Head and neck cancer has distinct demographic profile, risk factors, and food habits, personal and family history. A need based research for understanding these threats and defying those gains utmost importance.A variety of commercial diagnostic aids and adjunctive techniques are now available to potentially assist in the screening of healthy patients for evidence of otherwise occult cancerous change or to assess the biologic potential of clinically abnormal mucosal lesions. The realm of oral cancer and pre-cancerous lesions detection adjuncts and tests is an exciting and constantly progressing area of research and technology. Integration of the adjuncts and tests help uncover hidden lesions before they have the chance to progress into malignancy, and hopefully improve patient¿s chances of living a long, healthy life.Recent advances in techniques for detecting lesions, predicting their progression for the early diagnosis of Oral squamous cell carcinoma and Oral Potentially malignant diseases are discussed here.
