Adolescence and Addiction

Adolescence is a period of upheaval. It implies personal, social and intellectual changes, likely to generate anxiety attacks and questioning. This leads to a real psychological vulnerability that is very anxiety-provoking and that the teenager tries to compensate for by using excessive amounts of psychoactive substances. The relationship between adolescence and drug addiction raises questions. Everyone is concerned: parents, teachers, educators, caregivers. The most difficult thing is to encourage the teenage drug addict to seek care and to develop a relationship of trust. The support of parents is essential. Drug use most often begins before the age of 20, but can also occur earlier in pre-adolescence, as early as age 12, sometimes leading to legal consequences.
