Administration of lntellectual Proper in N.A.R Is of Nigeria

Agriculture is of great importance to society at large and particularly Nigeria which has a teaming population.It is therefore desirable that Continous research be carried out in order to improve on the variety of agricultural produce to make available high yielding varieties desirable for the expanding and dynamic society of Nigeria to enhance income, poverty reduction,export and good living. The protection of Intellectual property helps in promoting Public¿private relationships and speeds up the development and commercialization of new products. It also gives protection to the private sector which will be the vehicle through which the technology and products created may be made available to the public in large scale. It is in this context that this book discusses the Administration of Intellectual Property in National Agricultural Research Institutions in Nigeria with a view to highlighting the importance of IP even for the public Research Institutions. It also highlights the fact that to achieve economic diversification in Nigeria,there must be partnering with the private sector for mass production and dissemination of improved varieties.
