Adjectives : A Contrastive Study in Wolof and English

Primarily, the function of language is that of communication. Without it, human activities would be difficult to carry on. Consequently, language is part of human life, especially in our current geopolitical context. In fact, with globalisation, people want the world to be a planetary village. In other words, you may stay in your house and communicate with the world through the net. To facilitate these relationships and interactions between people living in different areas and having different cultures, they should be able to speak and understand many languages all over the world. However, according to Jean Leopold DIOUF speaking and understanding a language is one thing but analysing it is another one. More often, a speaker of a language is unable to explain the structure of the utterances of his or her language. Now to try to tackle problems like that, we attempt to contrast Wolof and English grammars by focusing our study exclusively on adjectives. In so doing, our main concern is to produce a grammar book, which makes a modern, simple, clean and an accurate analysis of Wolof and English.
