Adaptation of disabled people in society

This monograph presents theoretical and methodological and substantive results of the research on the practices of adaptive sports development (based on the Saratov region) as a process integrated into the logic of building a civil society in Russia. The social activity of persons with disabilities, realized through their participation in sports movements, is of fundamental importance in this case, it acts as a significant component of the construction of civil society in Russia. The sports movement of persons with disabilities is one of the important forms of self-realization of this social group, and has an inductive impact on other spheres of life as well. The development of adaptive sports is not only an important element in the implementation of social policy, but also contributes to the formation of prototypes of civil society structures and the formation of social activity of persons with disabilities. Understanding the relevant practices may prove useful for the democratic perspective of Russia as a whole.
