Active Teaching and Learning Methodologies in Higher Education

Anthology from the year 2019 in the subject Pedagogy - Miscellaneous Topics, , language: English, abstract: Active methodologies place the students at the center of the learning process and make them the protagonists of discovery, rather than just passive information receivers. The need to apply active teaching and learning methods in the educational process, including in higher education, is not in doubt. This is due to the modern stage of development of society, the stay in which requires from a person more personal improvement, professional skills, competence, ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions, ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. The authors of the current paper are professors from Omsk universities (Russian Federation). They explore the use of active teaching and learning methods as a way to meet nowadays needs in higher education.
