Access to Online Information Resources and Services

Information is a national resource and it is necessary for national development. As information becomes a necessary recourse and commodity in the digital era, providing web information resources to all types of organizations. In an academic library system, libraries are facing the tough challenges of providing better resources due to lack of budget. Library consortia prove to be an excellent way in the process of collection, digitizing, organizing and making accessible the web resources. The web based information resources and the ability to access online resources like e-books, e-journals, e-databases, e-theses, magazines, easy proxy and newsletters has led to a new and ever evolving form of co-operation among libraries and information centers. The increasing IT infrastructure in the universities, availability of large number of free full text online resources like e-journals, e-books and databases, extension of academic and research programmes necessitate to investigate the optimum utilization of these resources by the users.
