Scleroligation appears to be more rapid in eradication of gastroesophageal varices, also it is safer and more effective. Studies on larger number of patients are needed to confirm these results. We recommend observation and regular long term endoscopic follow up of patients for whom scleroligation was done for assessment of the effect of this endoscopic technique on long term recurrence and any other complications.
