A Data warehouse model for Botswana Innovation Hub

In the 2009-2012 Botswana Information and Communication Technology strategic plan, the Government of Botswana signposted its interest in promoting Information and Communication Technologies, innovation as well as Information and Communication Technology-Enabled services with the aim of building a knowledge based economy and moderate over dependence on natural resources. It was against this rationale that Botswana Innovation Hub was established as a Science and Technology Park, the first of its kind in the country, to take the advisory position in several industrial sectors such as the mining technologies, bio technologies, clean technologies and Information and communication technologies. This book analysis the data management needs of BIH by demonstrating through a prototype the business intelligence solution that respond to some of the key strategic questions using a pool of knowledge from the data warehouse, ¿business is data and data is business.¿ The main objective is to show how to capture strategic data from various data source to support decision makers. This is done through an extraction, transformation and loading processes using a Microsoft business intelligence studio.
