A Comparitive Study between Manual and Smartphone Application Tracing

Cephalometric radiography is an essential method for case diagnosis, treatment planning, treatment prognostication, result acquisition and dental and craniofacial growth evaluations. The manual cephalometric tracing technique was the only method available for a long period of time. Today, mobile technologies have undoubtedly become ubiquitous in daily life. Taking advantage of this paradigm shift, the aim of the study was to compare linear and angular measurements obtained with smartphone application tracing and manual tracing methods using three cephalometric analysis- Down Analysis, Steiner Analysis and Tweed Analysis. An additional goal of this study was to evaluate the reliability of the smartphone-based approach as a cephalometric tracing method for Orthodontics.
